About Dawn Derow
This international multi-talented young songstress Dawn Derow who hails originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, began performing at the tender age of 8. Dawn made her UK debut in London in the role of “Maria” in an all international cast of Twelfth Night done at the Fringe Theater. After returning to the “Big Apple” to portray the role of “Cathy” in The Last Five Years at the Emerging Artist Theater in New York City, Norwegian Cruise Lines eagerly hired Dawn to be their Guest Entertainer and Principal Singer in which she did several cabaret shows and concerts, her most popular one featuring the music of Karen Carpenter.
Dawn made her Cabaret Debut in 2008, with her show titled “Shooting My Arrow” at the Duplex Theater which she hopes will win Manhattan Asssociation Cabaret recognition. She has also sung at Birdland, the Jazz Corner of the World, and this month will perform a new cabaret at the Metropolitan Room in Manhattan. Additional theater roles include “Diana Steed” in The Human Comedy and “Cosette” in a concert version of Les Miserable where she played opposite Constantine Maroulis as “Marius” to name a few. One of her highlights in 2008 was making her Brooklyn (Park Slope) debut as “Antonia” in the musical classic, Man of La Mancha with the Gallery Players, the production received rave reviews.
Dawn Derow, whose vocal range spans from Musical Theater to opera, has received critical acclaim in her concert work as the Soprano soloist in Schubert’s Mass in G which toured throughout Tuscany and Switzerland. She was also heard in the roles of “Valencienne” in The Merry Widow which was sung in German with Italian Dialogue in Italy. The role of “Papagana” in The Magic Flute, “Lucy” in The Telephone, and “Adele” in Die Fledermaus, were all performed while attending the Boston Conservatory of Music.
In addition to singing back up for Berkley Jam Bands such as, Uncle Sammy, Akashic Records, The Breakfast, and more…. Dawn Derow continues to keep herself busy as a Singer/Songwriter, Guitarist, Dancer and Actress. She is also AFAA Group Fitness certified and teaching aerobics classes at Crunch Gym.
